04-24-10 Meeting Notes
Saturday's LUGY meeting (04/24) at the Prescott Public Library was attended by four people.
John Carter gave a presentation on installing VirtualBox and Ubuntu 10.04 beta on a Gateway laptop. That might sound rather boring, but there were lots of questions from the attendees.
During the installion of VirtualBox, John went over all the options, explaining each well enough to give anyone a sense of comfort knowing it isn't all that complex.
The installation of Ubuntu was much simpler by comparison as there were much fewer options to select.
The biggest issue of the combo installation was getting Ubuntu to recognize a USB thumbdrive and also recognize the host OS (Windows 7) filesystem. After much tweaking, it was finally accomplished. It would have been a lot easier to do with Parallels.
